What is Icio Onlus?
Icio Onlus is a non-profit association created by Maurizio Romedis, Italian author and actor, who is working to improve the lives of population in Africa by building for 20 years wells, aqueducts, latrines, and schools.
Maurizio Romedis collects money but this is the local population, who will benefit from this structure, that hand-constructed themselves the wells.
Digging depth varies from 10 to 30 meters.
The initial excavation of about 3 meters to 4 meters in diameter.
The diameter of the excavation is reduced to 1.5 meters down until it reaches the water table.
Everything is sealed with stone brick and concrete.
I invite you to visit the website of Onlus Icio where you will find all the technical explanations, the heat of Africa, the energy emanating from Maurizio Romedis nicknamed Icio.
From my ancient job in bank security, I sometimes worked in Africa and have seen by myself the problems of access to water for African populations.
I met Maurizio 5 years ago.
5 years ago, I have decided to change my life and started my bike trips.
I wanted to finance the water project in Africa for several reasons.
1 – The non-profit association Maurizio is “small” and therefore generates little cost.
2 – Maurizio Romedis handles everything and travels regularly to Africa to help African.
He makes sure that all funds raised are used in the best way possible.
This is a funny and a very nice man. I quote “I show you especially since all I do is to try to live, not just to survive.
And now I’m here, popular with me – even ….. I’m a fan. ”
3 – Because I understand how he works, he is honest and clear in all of his actions
The story will continue with dansons la ronde : new travel plans with a new person. This trip will end in Kenya with the constructi
on of a new well …….
